PAKISTAN POLITICS MENGAL RELEASED
EPA¿¬ÇÕ´º½º  ±â»çÀü¼Û 2008-05-09 23:55
Supporters of former chief minister Balochistan, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, a leader of Balochistan National Party (BNP) celebrate his release from detention in Quetta the provincial capital of restive Balochistan province Pakistan 09 May 2008. Pakistani government had decided to withdraw all the cases, including those of sedition, against Akhter Mengal in order to pave the way for a proposed all parties conference (APC) on Balochistan. Sparsely populated mineral-rich Balochistan has been the site of sporadic violent attacks on rail tracks and government and military installations allegedly by nationalists who have been fighting for provincial autonomy and bigger royalties from gas drilling in their areas.
